Project Overview

To combat unprecedented high water levels in the surrounding region, St. Mary Levee District awarded Sealevel the general contract to construct the permanent Bayou Chene Flood Control Structure, one of the largest flood control structures in the U.S. The project’s scope of work included:

  • Construction of a 78 x 405’ flood gate
  • Installation of floodwall consisting of steel sheet piles and plumb and battered pipe piles
  • Approximately 1,100 linear feet of flood protection
  • Installation of timber guide walls and timber pile clusters
  • Installation of landing piles and cut-off wall
  • Fabrication of (2) 40′ x 173′ x 36′ jacket receiving structures
